P2 Licence information
Provisional Licence - P2 Green P's
The next licence after your red P's (P1) is to go onto your Green P's and to this you must pass a Hazard Perception Test (HPT)
- Go to your local RTA office and do the computer based Hazard Perception Test (HPT) which costs $35.00 for each attempt, you may need to book in some RTA offices
- You need to have held your P1 licence for at least 12 months and be a 18 or over
- The P2 licence is valid for 2 and a half years and you must hold the licence for a minimum of 2 years before you go for your full licence
- There must be green P plates displayed back and front of the outside of the vehicle
- $70.00 is the cost of the P2 licence when you pass
- Your maximum speed is 100KM/H
- You must have Zero (nil) Blood Alcohol Concentration (you can not drink anything with alcohol and check with your doctor because some medications can‘t be used)
- You only have 7 Points on your licence (Take extra care to follow the rules)
- No automatic vehicle restrictions apply
- No towing restrictions apply
- You can learn to drive a truck or a bus up to heavy rigid class (HR)
- If you loose 7 or more demerit points during the term of your licence, action will be taken to suspend the licence. Please note that demerit points will carry over to your Full licence
- You must not drive any vehicle with eight or more cylinders, as well as turbocharged or supercharged engines (diesel powered engines exempt), Modifications that increase engine performance or Any other vehicle identified by the RTA – further details available on the RTA website (Please note exemptions may apply)
- Mobile phones are only to be used with hands free
- By law seatbelts must be worn by all occupants of the vehicle and approved child restraints fitted.
- You are not to supervise learner drivers (you need to have a full licence for this)
If you display the L or P plates at the licence plates don't hide the number plate. This is against the law...
